Set just off the beach in Los Angeles, this thoughtful renovation transforms two once-overlooked spaces into a cohesive, light-filled retreat for a growing family. Beneath a stairwell formerly occupied by a compact bar and small closet, we reconfigured the footprint to create a 48-square-foot bathroom designed for our clients’ newborn daughter. Despite the absence of natural light, the room feels airy and expansive: floor-to-ceiling vertically installed handmade ceramic tile elongates the walls, a floating vanity and cabinet maximize storage, and a frameless shower enclosure preserves openness. Warm, feminine finishes and a delicately playful terrazzo infuse the space with softness, while layered ambient and task lighting, complemented by natural light filtering through a ribbed glass door, enhance its glow. Carrying the narrative forward, the nursery channels old Hollywood charm with inspiration from the Beverly Hills Hotel and tropical bungalows, balancing pastel tones with moments of bold contrast. Custom window treatments, a bespoke canopy corner, a curated gallery wall, light wood finishes, and a statement flora backdrop come together to create a sweet yet sophisticated sanctuary that feels both timeless and joyfully cinematic.
