Located in Oceanside, California, Bodega Market was envisioned as a West Coast interpretation of the iconic New York City corner store, convenient, colorful, unpretentious, and woven into the rhythm of daily life. Inspired by the bodegas of NYC, where you can grab a coffee, a quick bite, household essentials, and run into a neighbor all in one stop, the space captures that same spirit of everyday ease and community connection.
Our design approach was intentionally restrained. We leaned into honest, affordable materials and a clean architectural framework that allows the business to evolve organically over time. Rather than over-designing, we created a flexible backdrop, one that highlights fresh products, supports quick daily rituals, and can adapt as the brand grows.
Executed on a tight budget, this project demonstrates that thoughtful design is not about excess, it’s about clarity, creativity, and prioritizing what matters.
