Newly settled into their Studio City home, a young family wanted its midcentury rooms to feel distinctly their own. Working within the existing architecture, The Luster Kind used furnishings, art, wallpaper, and custom window treatments to create an interior that feels warm, cozy, and collected. Pieces from different eras bring an eclectic spirit to the home, while the rooms remain quiet and open.
In the living room, a green marble coffee table anchors sculptural furniture and tactile upholstery. Walnut shelving and a green burl wood sideboard introduce richly figured wood, while vintage art sits alongside contemporary pieces. The children’s bedroom takes a softer approach to pattern, while the bathroom has a sense of humor: monkeys hang among the leaves of its wallpaper. Throughout the home, furnishings and finishes were selected with durability and ease of care in mind, allowing each space to feel considered and comfortable for family life.
The project includes furnishings, lighting, custom wallpaper, window treatments, and styling, with pieces from Zak + Fox, Soho Home, En Gold, Lulu and Georgia, RH, Rejuvenation, Lumens, CB2, Crate and Barrel, and West Elm alongside vintage art. The Luster Kind’s work also extends to the entry, primary suite, ADU, and other spaces beyond the rooms shown here.
