The Lake Tahoe Studio is The Luster Kind’s compact, 630-square-foot live/work space in the Sierra Nevada. Originally built in 1980, it retains select vintage elements while embracing the building’s inherent character. Designed for everyday living, creative work and time on the mountain, the space was approached with simplicity, resourcefulness and a budget-conscious sensibility.
The mood is quiet, earthy and collected, with a slightly cinematic quality. It feels appropriate to its mountain setting without relying on predictable rustic lodge references. Slate, mossy green, muted clay-plum, camel tones, natural woods and walnut take their cues from the surrounding landscape, while vintage furnishings and a restrained European influence create a layered, worldly atmosphere. Thoughtful material choices give the compact interior a distinct identity while reflecting TLK’s refined, historically informed point of view.
